The sheep and goat rearing has been the profession of all the prophets from the first Apostle ADAM to the last Prophet MUHAMMED (SAW).
AL-NAZEER FARMS idea was thought of by the mentor Dr.SYED MUSHTAQ AHMED. Its planning and construction was done in 2014 in a small area of 3200sq.ft. whichever was in possession with the proprietor. The animals were brought in the stall-fed system in May 2015 Rearing and breeding of sheep is being done in 8 stalls based on their age and weight.
Stall feed:
It is called Intrinsic system of rearing animals. Rearing and Breeding of Sheep in Stall methods have been a recent innovation in the Animal Husbandary field.
Advantages
- Animals are in shelter away from the predators.
- Free from Diseases like Worm infestations.
- Nurtured and cared well by the employees
- Provision of feed and water 24 x 7
- Identification of diseases, their prompt isolation and treatment.
- Feeding of poisonous plants and grass avoided hence their morbidity and mortality decreased and many more
Disadvantages
- Animals are deprived of their rights of grazing.
Breeds
The Breeds of Sheep reared are Nellore Jodipi native of Andhra Pradesh, Semmari and Madras Red Sheep native of Tamil Nadu. It is considered that the meat of these breeds are well preferred for making delicious foods like Mutton Biriyani, Mutton kurma, Chops, Mutton fry, Liver, Kidney and fry, paya etc..
Feed
- Green fodder: Grass Varieties, shoots stems, leaves of herbs, shrubs and trees. These are chaffed into small pieces so that they can be easily chewed and digested.
- Dry Fodder : 15 to 20 varieties of grains and pulses are milled and fed with wheat bran and pulses bran to make a nutritious mixture along with vitamins and minerals. The feed is made and quantity given based on the age of the animal .
- Azolla : An algae very rich in carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals is grown in tanks in hygienic method and fed to the animals.
- Hydroponic grass: a Hydroponic system has been established to provide sprouts and grass for the animals. Corn grass with cowpea sprouts are well relished by the animals.
Manure
- Quantity: An adult sheep or Goat will give 1tonne of manure / year, approximately a growing animal will give 1kg / day on an average.
- Collection : In Intrinsic, Semi-Intrinsic system the sheep manure mixed with urine can be collected very easily if the animals are kept in slotted panels.
- Drying : The manure collected should be dried initially before use.
- Usage : It is considered that the N. P. K contents is more superior than cowdung manure. It can be applied directly to the ploughts before planting. It can be made as a bed for planting. It can be well dried, pulverized, Packed in packets or bags and marketed. Its demand is on the rise in agricultural fields, Horticultural gardens, Vegetable gardens, Nurseries, Roof gardens and individual pots. The manure can make a good combination in the ratio of 1:2:2 / Sheep manure : Red soil : River sand for planting
