Purchase of Land

Land should be purchased for starting any business for that matter.The requirement depends on the number animals to be bred or reared. For Extrinsic and Semi-intrinsic Method of rearing a large extent of land of 2-3 acres is necessary for providing shelter and for paddle method of grazing. For Intrinsic system of rearing the requirement of land may be less.

Shelter

A Shed is constructed for shelter of the animals to prevent them from the variations of climate like excess sun light, sun heat, rain and predators. This helps to provide feed and drinking water in Semi-intrinsic and Stall-Fed methods.

Feed

• Extrinsic System : Only grazing feed.
• Semi-Intrinsic System : Grazing and Green Fodder if grazing feed is insufficient. In addition Dry Fodder is provided.
• Intrinsic System : Also called Stall-Fed System (which is followed by us). Animals are kept in different cabins depending on their gender, age and weight, Green Fodder, Dry Fodder and Drinking water is provided in Feed hangers or trays or troughs.
• Drainage : Sheep and goats are hygienic animals. They require clean environment to relax. Hence proper drainage facilities should be available in the constructed shelters. Regular Cleaning should be done of the shelter floor area.

Care

• Proper care like identification of ill animals and their isolation.
• Treatment of animals
• Vaccination of the animals regularly depending on the season and epidemic.    
•  Regular Deworming of animals should be done.
